Final Fantasy XIV will be another MMO(Multi Player Online)  based on the world of Final Fantasy,  just like it’s predecessor Final Fantasy XI.  FF XIV will  be going to PS3 and PC.

Why Square? Why?????  Now I have to wait for another long years for a new Final Fantasy and I have to buy a PS3!!! WHY?????????

Jeanne D’Arc

Jeanne D’Arc is a psp game developed by Level 5, unlike another games developed by them. Jeanne D’Arc is a turn based strategy RPG, I think this is their first time making a game like this.

Based on a real story of Joan of Arc, Jeanne D’Arc tells you a story about Jeanne, a woman who was sent by god to protect her mother country , France from the struggles against English during the Hundred Years’ War in the early 15th century. All the characters is based on the real history, but level 5 added some fantasy elements like monster and demon.

The game play is like the usual turn based strategy. You move your character through some box grid, the attack range is also based on these boxes. Just like everybody’s favorite, Final fantasy Tactics. But, Jeanne D’Arc has some difference, Like a “Unified Guard” that is triggered when your ally is close to the characters that is being attacked, it can reduce the chance of hit and the damage taken by enemies.

Each character and enemy has an affinity to one of three phases (Sol, Luna, Stella), each which have strengths and weaknesses against the other phases, in a manner similar to rock, paper, scissors. For example, Sol is stronger against Stella, but weaker against Luna. Each character also has a number of skill slots; skill gems that can be purchased, won in battle, or produced by combining other gems together. These skills can passively improve a character’s stats or have offensive, defensive, or recovery skills used during battle.

The battle system is comparable to turn-based strategy games. Prior to battle, the player can manage character equipment and abilities, and then select which characters to bring into battle. On each turn, for each character, the player can move and then perform an action such as attacking a foe, using recovery items, or using skills; each action awards a number of experience points to the character. Attacks can be met with counterattacks, and the facing of the attack will also influence how much damage is done. Unique to the game is the creation of a “Burning Aura” (“Burning Site” in the Japanese version) which forms on the space immediately behind the target of the attack; a second character can move into that space and strike for extra damage, or if a character is already in that space, the Aura will move with that character and increase the power of the attack on that turn only. Burning Auras disappear after one turn.

Unique to Jeanne and selected other party members is the use of a magical armband that can be infused with gems. Each gem on the armband can be used once per battle, and only after acquiring an amount of power gems from battle, and allows the character to transform into a much more powerful version of that character. For example, Jeanne’s first transformation gives her a higher attack value, and while in this form, she gains another turn immediately after finishing off any foe. Transformations are limited to a few turns and the character reverts to their normal form once the effect is over.

Most battles have a required victory condition, such as defeating all foes or to move the party to specific spaces on the map. There are also specialized defeats, such as by letting Jeanne fall in battle, or by failing to meet the victory conditions within a fixed number of turns. Upon winning the battle, all characters in the party gain some experience, and additional spoils of war can be obtained.

This game is fun and addictive. Although compared to FF tactics or Disgaea, this game still needs to learn more. But, still this game is a must to play. Nice story, addictive gameplay, good music and nice artworks. There is almost no reason not to play this game!

The new model PlayStation 3 landed in Japan on November 11, coming with fewer USB ports, a 40GB hard drive, no backward compatibility, a cheaper price tag of 39,980 yen (approx $341), and a new colour–ceramic white.

The move seems to have paid off for Sony as hardware sales figures from Media Create for the week of November 5-11 show the PS3 outselling the Wii for the first time, with sales of Sony’s console having tripled week on week.

The PS3 sold 55,924 units last week, compared to the Wii’s 34,546. The handhelds remained on top of the charts, with the DS Lite selling 78,854 and the PlayStation Portable 58,964 respectively. Bringing up the rear were the PlayStation 2, with 9,043 units, and the Xbox 360 with 5,817 units.

Last week’s figures showed the Xbox 360 experiencing a surge in sales due to the release of Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation, which helped move 17,673 systems. The DS Lite reigned with 78,552, followed by the PSP with 59,714, and the Wii with 37,617. The PS3 sold 17,434, and the PS2 10,209.

I just read this article yesterday and I think that this is a good news for Playstation 3 fanboys. The price of the new model of PS3 is only 341$, that’s very cheap. Keep this on and PS3 will become the king of nextgen console.

Castlevania : The Dracula X Chronicle

Posted in PSP, Video Games with tags , , , , , on November 18, 2007 by kaorublade

Title : Castlevania The Dracula X Chronicles

This game is a remake of Castlevania: Rondo of Blood in SNES(or so I hear:p). But, this is the first castlevania game that I like. I used to think that castlevania is suck and an old school game that doesn’t need to be played. What do you know? I eat all those words that I said^^;.

For a beginner, you will think that this game is hard to play. Because you gotta have strategies to beat almost every enemy here in this game, but for a castlevania fans..I think that it wo’t be a problem. The game rolls in a 2,5D, it means that the game plays in 2D(side scrolling) but the background is entirely 3D.

The game is very nice, because it gives many path to reach the ending. So, you can’t finish the game entirely before taking every path that is available. The developer is very nice, he gives many bonuses for fans like a secret characters, music, and the best bonuses are the original game of Castlevania Symphony of The Night, Akumajou Dracula Peke, and The original Castlevania Rondo of Blood. For a new fans like me, these bonuses is super duper nice. I get the chance to play castlevania that I haven’t before^^.

I recommend it to every new players, especially the fans of the series. This game is a must play.

Overall my Rating is : 8,5

I just tried using this cheat device today, kinda scared of what might happen if I use this in my PSP, but apparently nothing bad happened and it worked out just fine. I tried this cwcheat in “Final Fantasy Tactics” and I got an “infinite gil”.

The installation is very easy and anyone can do it.

You can get it in:

after you download  the RAR file, you just have to copy the seplugins inside the MS_ROOT or MS_ROOT 371 to your memory stick main root and power up your psp while holding the R button, select plugins and enable everthing inside. Exit Recovery and you can enjoy playing with thousand of cheats.

Persona 3

Persona 3 PS2 Cover

Shin Megami Tensi Persona 3 is the fourth installment of legendary game series of Persona. Persona 3 is made from a combined form of an RPG and a simulation of life. The game was released on July 24, 2007.

The Story

The story is about a young boy who just transferred to his city of childhood. He is attacked by shadows, a creature that appears at midnight in a time space called “The Dark Hour”. This assault awaken his persona, called Orpheus. This persona is the only thing that can defeat the shadows. But our hero isn’t alone, there will be friends who shares the same fate as him and they will be united in Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad (SEES).

The game play is really simple actually, just another turn based RPG. But, what makes Persona 3 special is the life of the main character that we control. We will experience a teenager life in high school in day by day, and battling the shadows at midnight. By interacting with your friends in school, you will strengthen your ability in combining persona which can be a very valuable ally in battle.

The game only allows you to control the main protagonist, while the other character will be controlled by AI that you can set in “Tactics” menu in Battle. In combat, your character and his friends will use a gun to summon the persona named “Evoker” which used by pointing the gun at the head and pulling the trigger.

My Opinion

This game is so far one of the best RPG I have ever played in PS2 besides final fantasy. The best thing I found is the life simulation part of this game, many characters that I found in this game is always interesting and many times I get so emotional when I get to know them better. The story is very fresh, because using our present time as the base time and no other games done it.

The second thing is the ability to combine your persona. It’s always interesting to make persona with many skills and many persona in this game looks very cool, the persona uses names from many legend and religion, example: Hanuman, Sarasvati, Gabriel, Raphael, Abbadon, Nata Taishi, and many more. The good thing is the persona doesn’t just use the name, it visualizes them in an interesting way.

Anyone who wants a good RPG with a fine storytelling and amazing game play should play this game, otherwise you’re gonna be very sorry guys. Enjoy!^^
